aku-aku: v.. To move a tall, flat bottomed object (such as a bookshelf) by swiveling it alternatively on its corners in a "walking" fashion. [After the book by Thor Heyerdahl theorising the statues of Easter Island were moved in this fashion.] source: LangMaker.com. Aku Aku also has another meaning to the islanders: a spiritual guide.

File under: Events

Last night was Santarchy 2002 here in San Francisco. I estimate there were near 100 Santas (and one Christmas Bunny) participating in a mad santa crawl that started in Oakland, crossed on the ferry, bumrushed the Mission (where I joined the festivities), took BART from 24th Street to Powell, seriously upset consumers in union square, visited the Lusty Lady (I probably shouldn't have licked the glass), sowed the seeds of future therapy sessions for dozens of innocent children, and spread out over North Beach like an evil red fog. Amazingly no one got arrested, even when the bunny and I hopped through an open window onto a moving yuppy party trolley, danced around and jumped back out through the window.

My photos of the event

Comments:

Seriously, someone else cough up the photos. Anyone got some from victoria's secret, disney store or the BART platform?

There are plenty from the BART platform. Check the links on cheesebikini.com

But I'm dying for those photos from the yuppie trolley. Also any photos of tourist-hassling or of the Santa tagging SUVs with canned snow.
