I've been fooling with video editing lately. Here's what I've got so far. I try to put everything in DivX;) format since it is the best quality with the best compression. You might want to shift-click or right-click the link, do a 'save as' then try to play, especially if your browser tries to play them in Quicktime or RealVideo as they doesn't seem to like DivX;). Play them in Media Player. In Windows, that is StartButton->Programs->Accessories->Multimedia->Media Player ...there is also a M$ Mediaplayer for Mac.

If you don't already have DivX;) installed, or you are not sure, I have instructions below for Mac, Linux and Windows PC.

[Israel Wedding] (28 Megs)
Continuing on this wedding theme. A little over two minutes. The infamous amateur video of the wedding reception floor collapse in Tel Aviv on May 25, 2001; Set to music by Godspeed You Black Emperor!. Yes, it is macabre, but the video is so compelling I couldn't help myself.

[Paul and Jenn's Wedding] (8 Megs)
30 second summary of Paul and Jenn's wedding in Monterey California. If you just can't figure out DivX, you can download the same thing as a standard avi: [Paul and Jenn's Wedding] (17 Megs)

[Survivor 708] (16 Megs)
Intro I made for Jeff & Val's wedding (funny if you ever saw that Survivor TV show, check it out)

[Wombat vs Dav Man Chu]

Short movie my friends and I filmed in college, finally got around to editing the shots together (only took ten years). This was the first one I edited, I need to do it over as I captured the video at not the best quality... Warning, it's pretty dumb. See if you can spot the the part where I smacked my head really hard on the doorknob.

[SRL Hovercraft] (20 Megs)
Survival Research Laboratories public premiere of the hovercraft machine. [More info on this video]

Want to check and see if you can play DivX;) movies? Download this small (307k bytes) movie to test. You might want to shift-click or right-click the link and do a 'save as' then try to play.

If you can't, then you need to install the codec. It's fast and easy. Follow these instructions:

For Windows, download this, unzip and then install by running the Register_DivX.exe program. After installing, you can play DiVX;) movies in your Windows Media Player and possibly other players you already have installed.

For Macintosh, go to http://mac.divx.st/download/ and follow their instructions. I don't have a Mac so I haven't tested this.

For Linux, well hell you're a smart person; you probably already know. But just incase, here's your links: [XMPS] [Linux AVI file library]. Note, I finally got around to setting this up on my Linux box. Be sure to get SDL_image and SDL_mixer libraries from that SDL site too.

FYI: DivX;) is a compression/decompression (codec) scheme for AVI files. So DivX;) movies are also AVI (standard Windows filetype) movies, they just have a new and improved codec. You probably didn't even know that AVI movies came in all flavors, but they do. All you need is to have the codec available to your regular AVI Movie player and then you can play DivX;) movies.

For some reason, Quicktime for Windows and Real Player don't seem to pick up the installed codec, but Windows Media Player and the player that came with my video capture card do. Actually, Real Player does sort of play it, just crappily on my system.
