anim_gif_filter.pl

I had this idea for a way to make animated gifs automatically with my Hiptop camera. So I wrote a new perl script called anim_gif_filter.pl that works as a procmail filter. It takes any jpegs in an email, converts them to gifs, then converts those gifs into an animated gif. It then rebuilds the mail with only the animated gif attached and sends it on its way (which is probably towards my blogpost.pl script).

There are a couple of options that the script looks for which controls the animated gif creation: "noloop" tells it not to loop and "-delay#" tells it how many hundrendths of a second between frames (default is delay50 or half a second). At an art gallery opening for an artist named Junko whom I met in Tokyo when I last went to visit Mie. Also tonight we stopped by 111 Minna downtown to see DJ Spacewalker (aka Kojo) spin a great set. tim north benefit

Some quick hiptop pics at the Tim Noth Benefit being held at the Somarts Gallery downtown. Canvas, video, photographic and video art abound, plus robotic performances from Survival Research Laboratories and Peoplehater. Also two rooms of music and an eclectic silent auction. All benefits go towards local artist Tim "hoverdrum" North's medical expenses (he's recently entered a severe stage of cancer. Great entertainment for a worthy cause....

48 hours

Just sat through Bush's war announcement in a San Diego airport bar. Nothing new really, except for the demand that Saddam's sons also leave the country (within 48 hours). The mood in the room here was very somber. +ne person started clapping when the president went off the air, but gave up after a couple of seconds when he realized no one else shared his enthusiasm.

I decided to skip today's war protest and opted instead for the 9th annual Urban Iditarod. Dressed sharply as a trauma monkey, I and my cohorts will seize the day, or at least, seize the 40oz (carpe saint ives).
