I joined netflix the other day, for a 10 day trial. This is a online dvd rental place where they mail you the DVDs. The nice thing is that there are no late fees, you just return them when you want to get a different movie. You pay $20/month and can rent as many as you want, although I think you are limited to maybe 3 out at a time. Anyhow, enough pitching them, I don't know yet if it's worth $20/month. I like going to theaters too much.
First two movies I got were Before Sunrise (1995) and Buena Vista Social Club. I watched Before Sunrise tonight. It was pretty good, although since I already saw Waking Life (2001) which was also written by Richard Linklater, I could tell that Before Sunrise was sort of just a test run for him. Waking Life was much better conceptualized and written, but it did borrow a short scene from Before Sunrise. In fact it had the same actors saying the same words more or less (from what I recall). Waking Life was animated, so I wonder if they actually had Ethan Hawke and Julie Delpy read again for the latter movie, or if they just stole the soundtrack from the former?
