A year ago I got myself addicted to Yahoo! online chess. I started out really sucking, but through a lot of practice I managed to move up to not so good. A big part of my amazing rise in ability was a java program I wrote which would let me review my previous games using the game history that Yahoo will email to you after the games.
A friend of mine Laura recently took up chess, and I just dusted off this old proggie to review one of her first winning matches. Since I had it up, I decided to package it a little nicer and release it as GPL open source code. Here it is if you're interested: ChessY!

didn't we have a game scheduled? I really suck, but I'm up for learning...

Mie, yeah we need to set up a way to play online. I guess we should use Yahoo, but my login quit working, I need to create a new one. I could play you too Laura...

Ummm. your chess program. can i ask for a version 1.1? The screen/gameplay is shown backwards. I was reviewing a game, and it was "opposite" of what had been played. (for example, my move Ng1-f3 was shown on the left side of the screen instead of the right.) Hmm, now that I look at the screen shot, i see that the board is the wrong way around - it has a dark square at the right corner, instead of a white one. can you mirror image it?

Oops. Damn, I never noticed that. OK, well it's fixed and I added some new features too.
