The Institute of Transportation Studies is hosting an exhibit at UC Berkeley's Brown Gallery (in the Main Library) entitled
Transportation Futuristics (link is to the online version). It's a fantastic collection of illustrations and photos of futuristic concept vehicles (and other transportation necessities) from a time when powered windows were a newfangled invention in the automobile.
I particularly like the Ground Effect Machines (hovercrafts) and the Standing Seats (designed for short-haul flights to fit more people into coach without the leg room issue).

[yikes.. I've got to say, I don't like having to register and authenticate with a centralized third party in order to comment on your site, and being explicitly tracked by that authority whenever I comment. This gives me the creeps and is naughty. Damned blogspammers..]
Now what was I here to say? Oh yeah: the aircar reminds me of those little desert runabout hovercraft from Star Wars.

That aircar reminds me of the "Walking City" from the design group Archigram: "a self-contained mobile pod of urban elements"
