I'm not officially a competitor in the November mustache competition we've been having at the offices of Pivotal Computing where I've been contracting lately, since I didn't shave at the beginning of the month, but I feel like I'm doing a good job in the for-fun master's division. And today I made both a behind the back/over the shoulder shot and and no-look back to the goal shot on our small office hoop with witnesses.
And then on my way home, I jumped on the F Market and got off at 8th and Market only to see the #19 just pulling away. Since I had my skateboard with me, I started chasing after it. I really wanted to catch it to avoid having to walk up the steep north slope of Portrero Hill (or waiting for the next bus, always a sketchy proposition).
I skated down 8th street after the bus all the way to the Townsend roundabout, getting almost to the back end of it before the doors closed and pulled away like 5 times. I got held up at a few lights, it got held up at a few lights; it was an exciting game. Luckily 8th Street is a slight downhill most of the way. At Brannan I actually passed it while it was mid block, then it passed me and let off some people at Townsend. I managed to get beside the front of the bus just as it was closing the door and jumped off my board waving at the driver. She looked at me all startled and then opened the door. I jumped on and said "I've been chasing you all the way from Market!" and she said "I saw you. I didn't know you were tyring to catch me!" Ah, the small victories in life :)
[this is good] (this is good but Potrero only has two Rs)
