I made a Persistence of Vision kit from Make Magazine (only $17.50). It's pretty cool, but actually hard to see the pattern when just waving my hand. I think perhaps I need to put the whole thing on a string and swing it around my head, but I need to find a safe way to do that. More details and links in the Flick description.

Sure. I was thinking I should actually put it on a ribbon attached to a rotary motor and just mount it on a pole.
